Overcoming Fables Vol. 1 by Joshua Dsane

God expects us to walk in the truth and not to be swayed by fables. Even with our news outlets, there are real news and fake news.

It is very important to identify what God classifies as truth from what men think and promote to be the truth.

Fables are made up stories that people share to transfer a particular type of information. In today's Christianity so many things we see as the truth are actually fables and not biblical.

For instance, "God helps those who help themselves" is a fable. It cannot be found anywhere in the bible.

A fable can be so convincing that you may believe it to be true.

The first fable you must avoid are Jewish fables.

Titus 1:14  Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

There are people who think they are following God in a Jewish way, when in reality they are just following Jewish traditions.

In this pandemic season, many will be deceived through Jewish fables.

Some people think it's the use of a prayer shawl or cloth that makes their prayer powerful. The new covenant does not require any prayer cloth to make your prayers effective. Jesus prayed so many times in the bible without a prayer cloth.

Do not allow the commandments of men, to be seen as the commandments of God

Other believers think unless they are baptized in the river Jordan they have not received a powerful baptism.

If Jesus was born in Ghana, He will probably have been baptized at Labadi or something.

There is nothing special about river Jordan. All you need is faith no matter where you are being baptized.

Others also believe if they have an Israel flag or the candlestick or the six point star then they are following Yahweh.

The old covenant has been done away. All those things don't matter. Whether you pray on mount olive or in your bedroom, the presence of God is everywhere.

The second type of fable you must avoid are cunning devised fables

2 Peter 1:16  For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

These are fables that entice your emotions without preaching the truth to you.

For instance messages that make it seem as though life is all about what is happening here on earth.

When the preacher knows you are within the marriage age range then all his preaching and prophecies are about marriage.

These are skillful fables that play with your emotions.

Many Christians have been victims of this fable. They have been told stories about things they know will never happen.

Like "ones saved forever saved". It sounds nice, but it's a fable.

We are told to work out our salvation with fear and trembling.

Sometimes the preachers know what we are looking for so they use cunning devised fables to get our attention.

Someone said that "lies sells more than the truth".

Don't become a victim of this kind of fable. I was shocked to see Christians who were looking for hair in their bible to drink with water. What a shame!

Any preacher who never talks about the coming of Christ is a suspect. Why? Because we are told to try all spirits and that anyone who doesn't confess that God came in the flesh, that person is not of God.

If you don't believe in the return of Jesus, it is because you don't believe that He came in the first place.

Be a vigilant believer. Don't just follow blindly.

The Thessalonian church did not just accept Paul's preaching because he was performing miracles and known across the churches. No!

In Acts 17:11 after Paul preached, they searched the scriptures to be sure if he was lying.
It doesn't matter whether its your pastor who is preaching, cross check with the scriptures and sieve out the chaff.

The next fables you must watch out for are old wives' fables

1 Timothy  4:7  But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

The are some Christians who equate being around for a long time to spirituality. These MBA (Mi Baa ha Ats3) people are very deadly to your Christian walk.

Everybody's story and destiny can never be in the same pattern. The fact that God spoke them on a mountain doesn't mean that God only speaks to people when they are on a mountain.

These people, if you give them the chance, they will become your holy spirit. They will lead you all through your life.

If you study scriptures, how God dealt with Moses is different from Elijah and totally different David. God has a way of handling His children.

There are many young ladies who are afraid of marrying because they encountered one with an old wives' fable.

The Pharisees didn't understand Jesus' way of ministry because they were used to one style.

Allow God to be God over your life. God wants you to learn obedience through the things to suffer - Heb 5:8

You cannot just ride on someone's experience and get to the top.

God is telling you to fast, but because your friend who has been a Christian for a while said she doesn't fast you have followed suit.
Are your destinies the same?

The last fable you must run away from is fables of endless genealogy

1 Timothy 1:4  Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

You go to certain prophetic meetings and you can't tell whether it's a history class or a church service. Only mentioning of names and accusing family members of your downfall.

Prophecies must edify the hearer and build faith. Some even mention all the names and still don't even say anything after all the long list.

They are all fables, just to entice you and capture your attention. The actual prophecy is what they say after all the names and telephone numbers.

Isaiah never prophesied telephone numbers neither did John the Baptist.

Also, don't allow people to use their relations with other men of God to deceive you. The fact that he or she is close to a great man of God is not a guarantee that they are genuine.

In Job 1:5-7, when the sons of God came, Satan was also there.

God calls people individually - Isa 51:2 not in groups.

If you don't avoid these fables, you whole Christianity will be like a game. You will be walked blindly into a pit.

1 Cor 13:8 says that prophesies, tongues, knowledge will all seize one day, but your love is what will sustain you.

Work on your love for God and stop following fables.

Love as Strong as Death - Karabo Moloisi

Song of Solomon 8:6 says 'Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame' Think about this for a moment... You know, when its time for a person to die, there is nothing that person can do to escape it. There is no opinion that death asks from him or her. No negotiations at all. Death has no respect for anyone's dignity or whatever status or position a person holds. Now, the bible says "... Love  is as  Strong  as  Death ..." Same non-negotiable force death comes with. That's how strong this 'Love' is. Once He gets a hold of you, He won't let go. The Unconditional Never Ending Love of God #The_Unconditional_Never_Ending_Love_of_God Also read; Deuteronomy 4:24  24 For the Lord thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God. 3 Things Jesus Tells Us about Worry by Mark Altrogge

Jesus had a lot to say about worry. He came into an unstable and unpredictable world. He lived in an agricultural society where one summer’s drought could wipe out crops for the winter. He hung out with fishermen, who might fish all night long and catch nothing to sell or bring home to family. And Jesus knew the human heart and the temptations presented by the cares of this life. So he gave his disciples some excellent instruction on worry in Matthew 6. “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? (25) First, Jesus says God gave us our human life and our bodies without us even asking. Human life and our physical bodies are incredibly valuable. Our life is much more valuable than the food we put on the table; our body far more valuable than the shirt we put on. If God gave us life, which is so very valuable, will he not g...
